Dering has supported the Deaf Xchange programme run by Deafway Preston which links deaf people across the world to learn about each other’s cultures.
9 young deaf people from Nepal are spending time with Dering staff in Preston to establish a job club in the area and promoting the new service to the deaf community. The aim is to provide pratical work placements that enable learning.
“We hope that some of the Nepalese Deaf people will take some of the ideas and methods we use back to Nepal and look at how to support deaf people into work in Nepal,” said Paul Scott, Employment Advisor for Lancashire & Cumbria.

Dering is delighted to announce that it has won four new ESF subcontracts in the areas of Central London, Lambeth, Southwark and Wandsworth, and in Outer London, which covers all other London boroughs, the South East and Cumbria/Lancashire. This achievement means we can extend our work with deaf people on Jobseeker Allowance into Outer London, Hampshire, Berkshire, Oxfordshire and Cumbria/Lancashire for the first time.
(Previously we could only work with people on IB/ESA or DLA)
The new contracts will start on 14 December and will run for 18 months. They are largely aimed at supporting deaf people on Jobseeker’s Allowance who have been unemployed for more than six months, through intensive job search support and employer engagement activity.
Clients on this programme will be voluntary and will receive intensive, one-to-one job search support and access to a range of group workshops.
To register to get support just email us with which area you live in at info@dering.biz

Dering has started delivering flexible New Deal, the new programme for people on Job Seeker Allowance (JSA) in 14 areas of the UK.
Flexible New Deal (fND) has been introduced by the government to help people who have been out of work for a long time, prepare for and find a job.
It’s a completely new approach and being flexible it means that Dering are free to help you in the way that’s best for you. We will work with you for up to 12 months to ensure that you are prepared and ready to work and then continue to support you when you get a job.
Flexible New Deal provides joined up support for you with activities and training to support you in your journey into work. These might include anything from debt and housing advice, support with job search and CV writing to work placements and training to get you ready for a particular job. We will also work with local employers to ensure that we can identify opportunities and work with them to identify suitable people to fill roles.
For 3 years in many areas we have not been able to work with JSA claimants because of Government contract restrictions. This new contract means we can now work with JSA claimants and we have started delivery in some new areas such as Cardiff, Wolverhampton, Exeter and Hull.
To access the programme you need to ask Jobcentre Plus when you next sign on to refer you to fND. Show them the list of Dering’s partners below and they will refer you to Dering via the right partner.
