Nepal deaf experiment with job clubs in Preston

Dering has supported the Deaf Xchange programme run by Deafway Preston which links deaf people across the world to learn about each other’s cultures.

9 young deaf people from Nepal are spending time with Dering staff in Preston to establish a job club in the area and promoting the new service to the deaf community. The aim is to provide pratical work placements that enable learning.

“We hope that some of the Nepalese Deaf people will take some of the ideas and methods we use back to Nepal and look at how to support deaf people into work in Nepal,” said Paul Scott, Employment Advisor for Lancashire & Cumbria.
